That perfect sketchbook instagram aesthetic has really messed with us! Itβs so important to do the messy work and listen to yourself. Thank you so much for this reminder. Your painting is beautiful!
This is great! And it reminds me of the βdoodling while talking on the phoneβ routine. Once you allow those lines and colors to come out you are letting your creative self explore more of whats within, one idea at a time
Love, Lyly! For the same reason, our dear friend, perfectionism, I started doing the 100-day art challenge until the end of the year. I'm trying to paint or draw every day for at least 5- 10 minutes. Some days, it turns into 20-30min, but that isn't the goal. It is about sitting every day for a short time to let go of perfection.
I just launched a new series here - visual interviews - where people can answer questions about art and mental health via images instead of words. If you feel moved to join in with sketches you're welcome to do so! Details and the link to the interview in today's post and I'm happy to answer questions. Zero pressure. Just an invite.
I think I need to stop buying pretty sketchbooks - so there's no pressure to 'make art'.
